How it all began at the Tauernherz

Hosts & history

A heart-warming winter holiday.

It’s really been achieved in record time. A heartfelt wish to bring a vision to reality has now become an actual hotel. You might almost say the building is made from flesh and blood, in view of the energy and passion invested by our entire family as we put our hearts into the project. Not even eight months went by between breaking ground in the spring of 2017 and opening the hotel in November 2017.

The dream I had my heart set on was finally coming true. We all put our heart and soul into the process. Grandpa Franz was our architect and construction supervisor. Grandma Johanna provided a heart of gold and the voice of reason. Florian served as construction manager and lent a helping hand wherever it was needed. And Katharina, of course, was in the heart of it all from the very first second.

The hotel was destined to be all heart. A place where people would be glad to arrive and even happier to return. A place to gladden both heart and soul. We hope we have achieved exactly that.

It is always a long journey from idea to reality, but we followed our hearts all the way. All through the planning, design and smallest details. The question often came up: is it a matter of heart or head? Beauty is always a little bit existential. That’s why, at the Tauernherz, it’s always the right time to forget about the clock. Forget what, when, where and exactly how life should be organised. Simply follow your heart.  Enjoy a different kind of holiday – not so much in a hotel as an oasis of indulgence featuring an exciting combination of well-being elements collected by Katharina on her many journeys and visits to trade fairs and design exhibitions. In keeping with our family’s long tradition around hearts, we have sought to give a new interpretation to our home.

It is place to live, temporary residence, refuge for the soul and home of the heart. Quite simply, a place of welcome and much-needed rest and restoration.
