The family story

The roots in the Tauernherz go deep - and above all far back.

Back in the 1950s, my great-grandfather discovered his own spring here in this special spot - a symbol of the strength that our house still carries today.

In my great-grandfather's day, the water supply network in Obertauern was not yet well developed and did not reach as far as his property. For many years, the alp was used for mountain farming until my parents wanted to develop it for tourism in the 1990s. However, my father was always a very innovative man and didn't rely on others when it came to his own affairs. That's why, after a long search and digging, he discovered his own spring on his land - right here, in this beautiful spot in the middle of the Tauern mountains. It is said that a small, heart-shaped stone showed him the exact and optimal digging point.

In the heart of the Tauern, we are therefore independent of the local water policy and the general water supplies, enjoy our own elixir of the heart to our heart's content - for drinking, bathing, splashing around - and can pamper our guests in our new wellness area to our heart's content.

Nature as a source of inspiration

Thanks to the bubbling security of my own spring, I was able to live my dream of a very special hotel from a wonderful childhood on my parents' farm, which has been with me ever since. Over the years, my visions became more concrete and my ideas took on ever clearer forms. Stone and wood were to become the defining materials, exactly what surrounds us up here in the heart of the Tauern, magnificent limestone formations and beautiful forests.

The idea of creating something heartfelt began to grow. With the warmth that has been lived in our family for generations. With my father's passion as a hotelier and architect. With the education of the heart that my mother passed on to me. And with my heart's desire to create a slightly different hotel for my guests.

How it all began in the Tauernherz.

The heartfelt wish to realize a vision has now become a hotel. You could almost say it is a building made of flesh and blood, as much energy and lifeblood as our entire family has invested in this short period of time.

From vision to favorite place

It took less than eight months in total, from the ground-breaking ceremony in spring 2017 to the opening in November 2017. And to enjoy this different kind of vacation, not so much in a hotel as in an oasis of pleasure that presents itself as an exciting mix of feel-good elements that I have collected on trips, trade fair tours and design exhibitions. Together with our family's heartfelt tradition, we have tried to reinterpret home. As a home for living, a home in between, a refuge for the soul and a home from home. Simply as a place of welcome. And a place to stay.

Today I live this vision

With a place of relaxation, joie de vivre and hospitality that comes from the heart and stays there. The values of authenticity, warmth, hospitality and innovation are not told here, but lived. Every smile, every gesture and every moment is an expression of heartfelt hospitality - far away from arbitrariness, very close to people.

You can almost smell it as soon as you enter the cozy lobby. This feeling of arriving in a small, special vacation world. Fragrant wood, loving details, natural materials, an ambience of relaxation and simple beauty, a friendly smile here, a cheerful "Griaß euch" there - and a warm, firm handshake.
