Winter hiking in Obertauern

Starting from the front Gnadenalm, follow the winter hiking trail from the parking lot on the Gnadenalm towards the rear Gnadenalm. From there, the ascent up to the Südwiener Hütte begins. Those who don't want to make the return journey on foot have the option of tobogganing down. Toboggans can be hired on site.

The Gnadenalm in Obertauern is one of the most impressive areas for winter hiking. Hike through the snow-covered winter forest from the Gnadenalm parking lot past frozen streams along the winter hiking trail. The circular trail leads back to the parking lot.

The pass summit is the starting point for this wonderful hike. The trail leads you to the Obertauern sports center. From here, head towards the Zentralbahn and on to Sonnlift 3. From there, it's just a short hike to the Sonnhof.

From the top of the pass in Obertauern, the route leads past the Obertauern sports center through the Hundsfeldmoor nature reserve to the Seekar with cozy refreshment stops at the Seekarhaus, the Kringsalm or the Dikt'n Alm.

A circular hike begins directly in front of the Tauernherz, which invites you to slow down. The groomed winter hiking trail is around 4.5 kilometers long and leads across wide expanses of snow, along quiet wooded areas and sunny sections - with wonderful views of the surrounding peaks.
The walk takes a leisurely 1.5 to 2 hours - ideal for a quiet morning or a relaxing afternoon in the snow.

The route is well signposted, easy to walk and also a pleasure with snowshoes. Start and finish is directly at the Tauernherz - no need to drive, no detours.
